Tailored Lighting Schemes for Every Project

Whether you're renovating a single room, designing a new-build home or fitting out a shop, restaurant or office, our team will help you create a scheme that balances style, function and energy efficiency. We offer three service levels to match the scope of your project — from quick consultations to full specification packages with CAD plans and technical drawings.

    • Discussion of your floor plans where available
    • Quotation and specification sheets based on our discussion
    Service Two

    Single Room or Small Project

For projects that need design input without the full comprehensive package — a single room, an extension, or one commercial area such as a bar, reception or treatment room.

    What's Included
    • Initial consultation to review project requirements
    • CAD plans of the lighting design
    • Detailed quotation matched to the CAD plans
    • Specification sheets for each fitting
    Limited Period Offer

    Free Lighting Design Consultations

For a limited period, our Lighting Consultation is free for residential and commercial projects. Enjoy a focused conversation — at our Wandsworth office or remotely by video call — to discuss your ideas and direction, review your floor plans where available, and receive quotation and specification sheets based on our discussion. Wherever you are, with no obligation.

Plans, drawings or inspiration images welcome — up to 20 MB in total.

Your details are sent straight to our design team and used only to arrange your consultation.

    We Design Commercial Schemes Too

The same team, and the same design process, handles commercial projects across these sectors

    Optional Add-On

DIALux Lighting Design & 3D Modelling

DIALux is the lighting calculation and visualisation software used by lighting designers, consultants and manufacturers worldwide. Our team uses it to build a three-dimensional model of your space — real room geometry, the reflectance of every surface, and the manufacturers' photometric files for the exact fittings we're specifying.

Because the calculation runs on real photometric data rather than rules of thumb, DIALux tells us how a scheme will genuinely perform before anything is ordered. On commercial projects that evidence is often the difference between a scheme being signed off and being sent back.

    What DIALux Calculates

    • Illuminance (lux) on the working plane, floor and task areas
    • Uniformity ratios, so a space reads evenly lit rather than patchy
    • Glare from working positions, screens and mirrors
    • Installed load and energy figures across the scheme

What You Receive If You Add It

    • Photorealistic 3D renders of your space, lit
    • False-colour and isoline plots showing where light lands
    • A calculation report you can issue to building control or a landlord
    • A luminaire schedule tying every calculated fitting to a product

    Lighting Design FAQs

Common questions about our design service answered

Do you design lighting for commercial projects?

Yes. The same team and the same design process handle commercial projects — retail units, salons and clinics, restaurants and bars, hotels, offices, gyms and leisure spaces. Where a commercial scheme needs light levels evidenced before installation, we can model it in DIALux as an optional addition; see our DIALux commercial case study for a worked example.

What is DIALux and what is it used for?

DIALux is the lighting calculation and visualisation software used by lighting designers worldwide. It builds a 3D model of a space using the real room geometry, surface reflectance values and the manufacturers' photometric files for the fittings being specified, then calculates illuminance on the working plane, uniformity, glare and energy figures.

It also produces photorealistic renders and false-colour plots, so you can see how a scheme will look and where the light will land before anything is installed.

Is DIALux modelling included in your lighting design service?

No — DIALux modelling is an optional extra rather than part of every design. Building and calculating an accurate 3D model is comprehensive work that takes considerable time, so it sits outside the standard service tiers and is quoted separately.

We add it where a project genuinely calls for it: typically a commercial scheme that needs evidenced lux levels, or any project where you want photorealistic renders before committing to the fittings. Raise it at consultation stage and we'll tell you whether yours warrants it.

Can you provide calculated lux levels for building control or a landlord?

Yes, via our optional DIALux modelling. The output includes illuminance on the working plane, uniformity ratios and glare figures, which can be issued to landlords, building control, M&E consultants or your main contractor as part of a project sign-off pack.

How much does a lighting design cost?

Pricing depends on which service tier you choose and the size and complexity of your project. Once we understand your requirements, we'll provide a clear, fixed-fee quotation before any work begins. Get in touch for a tailored estimate.

When is the best time to involve a lighting designer?

The earlier the better. Engaging us during the architectural or interior design stage means we can plan ceiling depths, wiring routes and control systems before construction begins, avoiding costly changes later. That said, we regularly join projects mid-build or during refurbishment too.

Do I need to use Mr Resistor to supply the fittings?

The design fee covers our team's work. Most clients choose to supply through us because we hold trade accounts with over 100 brands and can offer competitive pricing, but you're free to source fittings elsewhere if you prefer.

Can you work alongside my architect, interior designer or M&E consultant?

Absolutely. We collaborate regularly with architects, interior designers, M&E consultants and main contractors. Our CAD plans and load charts integrate easily with their drawings, and we're happy to attend site meetings or design reviews.

Do you design lighting outside London?

Yes. While our showrooms are in Wandsworth and Fulham, we work on projects across the UK. Initial consultations can take place remotely via video call, with site visits arranged where the project requires.

Do you handle smart lighting and control systems?

Yes. Lighting controls are integral to every design we produce. We specify systems from Lutron, Wise Controls and others, and our team can demonstrate them live in our showroom so you understand exactly how they'll work in your project.
